There have been quite a few gut wrenching episodes of the Blacklist, and this episode is surely one of them. The concept is really sick – kidnap the most brilliant minds of the time, cut out their brains and freeze them in super low temperature to preserve the brain tissues in hope that one day, those brains can be woken up again and transported to new bodies to continue functioning long after the original bodies had died. It’s more fantasy than science, at least for now, and to kill off those geniuses to steal their brains for that doomsday preparation, only a sick and mental person can bring himself to that idea.

It’s good to see Red and Liz back to the offence again, tracking down and eliminating the Cabal piece by piece. Now, with Dembe in the team, they have more strength, more coverage, and the sharp analysis of Marvin Gerard really helped them identity the weak spots to hit back at their enemy. It’s more interesting now that the battle is more balanced, and it’s fun to see Red making use of the FBI to his advantage, even though that means he has to be more careful in his planning and prepare more escape routes in case the FBI agents are to close for comfort.

Things are even more complicated now that the Director had direct access to the task force, which is the only active link to Reddington. Red is really aware of that, but he also needs the unwilling help from the task force, so like it or not, he has to continue his cat and mouse chase on the razor edge, and that makes the whole story become more and more exciting.

Another interesting aspect of this episode is that Tom is finally back to the thick of action, and he has managed to achieve a breakthrough. He risked his own life for Liz, and it’s good to see that the effort really paid off, and the gamble has been won. However, I don’t think it will be so easy and straightforward. I have a feeling that there will be some curveballs, some wrinkles that throw everything off track again. If not then, what’s the fun?

All in all, a good episode. Fast paced, lots of actions, concise and eventful, and successful for team Liz. And since there are only 1 more episode before the fall finale, there will be a lot at stake and some big events are about to happen soon, judging from the way the previous seasons end. Let’s wait and see.

What will they have to do in a restaurant kitchen, again? (Photo: NBC)
Now Peter finally looks a bit worried. What will he be doing to protect himself? (Photo: NBC)
Let’s end the post with this photo. I’m not very sure what agent Navabi sees but it must be something extraordinary. (Photo: NBC)
