I have just mentioned in the last post that Red now had an upper hand, and then suddenly all those huge advantages have been thoroughly wiped out in just one episode, and landed Red and Liz in a much more difficult situation than they had ever experienced throughout the whole season. Liz was captured. Dembe was arrested. Red was alone. The care package, which was so important that Red took the risk and sent Dembe to collect it, leaving him alone with Liz, fell into FBI’s hands. Tell me, how much worse can it be?

It was almost a joke to even imagine Red being kidnapped by a bunch of local thugs who made a living robbing lone drivers on the highways, but that was exactly what happened. I don’t know how they managed to knock him out and drag him back to their shed, but that is no longer important. What is important is that the event triggered a series of downward spirals that ended up in the worst situation imaginable mentioned above. Now, instead of threatening and attacking the Cabal, Red has to find a way to gain back on the same footing, and ensure that Liz will still be alive until he manages to find a way to get through to her and bring her out safely.

It really felt uncomfortable seeing Red being handcuffed or chained up, and dragged around unwillingly. It was not an usual scene, and if I remember correctly, similar scenes only happened once or twice in each season, and always in much higher stake games, with far more cunning opponents. Maybe the writers felt that they had given him too many advantages, and had to level the game a bit to keep everything exciting and unpredictable. Well, that’s good for us, since we will have more episodes to look forward to, but the measure taken is a bit too blatant, too abrupt and too heart broken.

Among all the let downs, the only bright spot is that now we know that at least Liz can do something on her own, instead of just relying on Red to manoeuvre the situation. She even managed to save and free Red, even though she had to pay a huge price that may be as high as her life. And she is quite charming and flirty if she needs to, After all, she is beautiful, and blonde, and slender. How can a man resist that?

Now, thanks to the fall break, we can only know how things play out on Jan 7. I don’t think she will die, as that will necessarily mean killing off the whole series already. But it’s interesting to see what the Director will do, now that his prized target is as close as ever. And I seriously doubt the protocol can help Liz, or Ressler can keep her alive, especially after realising how deep the Cabal has infiltrated the administration. Hopefully Red still had some aces up his sleeve for this emergency situation.

From the promo and teasers of next episode, things did not look good for Liz. She fell down, not sure due to what cause, and laid motionless on the floor. Meanwhile, Red was hard at work, pulling all the strings that he could grab to take back control of the wheel. Well, it will be a thrilling ride, but the wait is a bit too long for comfort 🙂

Liz’s capture was partly due to Aram, so will he be punished? And why do they meet in a cemetery, in front of a new grave?

It seems that Red will have the meeting that he earned. Who will he meet and what will he gain from there?

Stunning backdrop of the mountain in autumn. How I wish one day I can see that with my own eyes.

Aram oh Aram. Do you realise what you have done?

Who is this guy? He looks familiar, but I cannot recall his name and his role in the series.
